What is Pilates?
Pilates is a full mind/body experience that includes deep focused breathing with precise movements designed to lengthen muscles while at the same time strengthening them. The result is a longer, leaner look.
Much attention is paid to proper form and quality of movement. Pilates improves the performance of every sport, reduces or eliminates back pain due to muscle imbalances, elongates the spine, flattens the stomach, strengthens the lower back and promotes proper diaphragmatic breathing.
Pilates also teaches the communication between the focused mind and physical body which expedites desired results.
What is Core Strength?
Core strength is the balanced development of the deep and superficial muscles that stabilize, align, and move the trunk of the body, especially the abdominals and muscles of the back.
What is Reformer?
Despite the somewhat medieval name, the Pilates reformer is actually an amazingly elegant machine. The reformer provides finely tuned exercise resistance that allows one to work precisely to develop good alignment, core strength and flexibility.
What is Mat?
The Pilates Mat class incorporates the key principles of Pilates including postural alignment, breath work, core stability, flexibility and controlled movement.
